Grading coins has always been a subjective process. So, several leaders in the coin trade came up with the idea of “certified” coin grades. It’s a process of having a third-party technically evaluate the grade of each coin in a systematic and consistent way. After grading, each coin is then sealed in a plastic slab that guarantees the coin has not been tampered with or switched with a lesser coin. This is important because the higher the grade, the more the coin is generally worth... often, substantially more.
Our coin hunters are always on the lookout for a magnificent find. They’ve done themselves proud with a tiny release of 695 Brilliant Uncirculated Morgans. Each one is CERTIFIED MS-64 by one of the premier Numismatic third party grading services like PCGS (Professional Coin Grading Service), NGC (Numismatic Guaranty Corporation), ANACS (originally American Numismatic Association Coin Service), etc.
The letters “MS” stand for “Mint State.” While a perfect coin without a single blemish and with all of its original luster would rate as a perfect MS-70, most standard grade Brilliant Uncirculated coins are rated as MS-60. Some “commercial” grades even slide below that official base grade for Brilliant Uncirculated to AU-58 (“About Uncirculated”) or less. So, these 695 silver dollars are not just any Morgans... or even standard grade Brilliant Uncirculated Morgans. These are all MS-64 Morgans authenticated by one of the top numismatic grading services in the country.
