Long considered the most beautiful coin our country ever issued, the “Walker” Half Dollar has a rich history that spanned two World Wars, the Roaring Twenties, the Stock Market Crash of 1929 and the Great Depression. On the obverse, Miss Liberty carries laurel and oak branches, symbolic of our “civil and military glory”, as the Stars and Stripes flows in the background. Her hand is outstretched in the spirit of liberty as she walks toward the dawn of a new day. On the reverse is a proud American Eagle, perched on a crag with his wings unfolded, fearless in his spirit. From the rock he is perched on springs a sapling of mountain pine, symbolic of America.
