1907 High Relief $20 Saint Gaudens
Gold Piece recreated as a
Pure 24 Kt Gold Clad Proof
The $20 gold piece designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens is considered the most beautiful U.S. coin ever. Minted only in 1907, the High Relief edition required numerous strikings which delayed production. The coin was issued in a low quantity with Roman Numeral lettering representing the date (MCMVII). Later that year the relief was lowered and Arabic Numerals (1907) were used in the date. This privately minted, non-monetary collector’s Proof is clad in 14 mg of Pure 24 KT Gold, and displays Lady Liberty and the American Eagle in flight in gleaming sculptural magnificence.
