Stone Mountain Memorial Half Dollar

What could be more fitting than a U.S. coin that honors the largest high relief sculpture in the world?  This commemorative half dollar was struck to help fund the Confederate Memorial Carving at Stone Mountain, Georgia, a project so massive that it ultimately took almost 60 years to complete. The Stone Mountain Memorial Half Dollar design features two of the three figures that appear on the mountain, Generals Robert E.
