Our Christmas Holiday is 150 Years Old!

Every year on December 25th, believers all over America celebrate Christmas, a day filled with family, festivities, food,  and fellowship all around.  But did you know that Christmas wasn’t even a national holiday until 1870? It’s true!

In fact, until the mid-1800’s, it was often considered un-Christian to participate in merrymaking around Christmas, and many folks went to work on Christmas Day.  Finally, in 1870 under President Ulysses S. Grant, the federal government declared Christmas Day to be a national holiday.

To mark this special Anniversary, NCM has taken crisp, uncirculated U.S. legal tender $2 bills direct from sealed Treasury packs, then enhanced them with a full-color vignette honoring our Christmas celebration.  On one side of Jefferson’s portrait oval we see the warmly glowing Christmas tree, surrounded by gifts.  On the other side, Santa flies through the sky with his jaunty reindeer and sleigh as he makes his appointed rounds.  Even President Thomas Jefferson shows his Christmas spirit in a festive Santa hat!

Each bill arrives in a protective sleeve and is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity attesting to its legal tender status. Makes a wonderful gift, too!  Protected by our unconditional 60-Day Money Back Guarantee.
