Prior to issuing the coins, the U.S. Mint had commissioned a study to evaluate the popularity of the future program. Experts predicted that 98 million Americans were likely to save at least one of the quarters. When it was all over 10 years later, the Mint estimated that 147 million Americans had collected the State Quarters! Now NCM honors the Mint and the State Quarter program with this new release.
It’s the 25th Anniversary release of our “State Quarter U.S. Legal Tender $2 Bills” honoring the very first state to ratify our Constitution, Delaware. The portrait oval of each of these $2 U.S. legal tender notes has been enhanced in full color by NCM to feature the reverse image of the Delaware quarter. Then we’ve added iconic images from the state emblematic of its unique history, traditions, and symbols, along with the year it ratified the Constitution and the year its quarter was issued.
