CI 1964 Goldwater Morgan Dollar

Item #:

Product Description

When he entered politics, Senator Barry M. Goldwater Sr. brought his plain-speaking and common sense values to Washington DC.  While he’ll no doubt be remembered for his 1964 Presidential run, he has also been hailed as the Father of American Conservatism and the man who launched Ronald Reagan’s political career!  Now, NCM announces the premiere minting of the new, limited edition 1964 Goldwater Morgan Dollar, honoring this loyal patriot.  But there’s a second reason why this issue is so important.  For over 50 years, it’s been known that 1964 Peace Dollars were struck after Congress authorized the resumption of silver dollar minting for the first time since 1935.  What was not known until recently was that tools for a 1964 Morgan Dollar were made also!  It is not known if any were struck, and no coins have ever been found.  Now, NCM is announcing our special striking of the 1964 Morgan Silver Dollar.  And this non-circulating Cook Islands LEGAL TENDER DOLLAR is clad in 71 mgs of .999 pure silver.  Best of all, in Senator Goldwater’s honor, you’ll find a special insignia on the obverse of your coin. Called a privy mark, it reads “BMG” and identifies your CI 1964 Morgan Dollar coin as belonging to the special, limited Goldwater mintage. What a fantastic collecting opportunity!
