What could be more fitting than a U.S. coin that honors the largest high relief sculpture in the world?  This commemorative half dollar was struck to help fund the Confederate Memorial Carving at Stone Mountain, Georgia, a project so massive that it ultimately took almost 60 years to complete. The Stone Mountain Memorial Half Dollar design features two of the three figures that appear on the mountain, Generals Robert E. Lee and Thomas J. “Stonewall” Jackson, and was designed by Stone Mountain’s original sculptor, Gutzon Borglum.  It was struck in 90% silver as was the custom in 1925, and is guaranteed to be in extremely fine condition.  If you care about preserving our national history, and the lessons to be learned from it, this is the coin for you.  Also makes a magnificent gift.
