A little over 100 years ago, it was decided to erect a memorial that would appropriately honor one of our greatest presidents, Abraham Lincoln. Today history has once again been made! To mark the 100th Anniversary of the Lincoln Memorial, National Collector’s Mint created this special double-dated, 2-piece commemorative unlike any other ever struck.
It is a non-monetary issue that will never be released for circulation and features two distinct struck pieces. The obverse of the base is struck with the 100th Anniversary designation, the double date of 1914 – 2014, and a Lincoln quotation expressing the view that “all men are created free and equal.” Inset into the base is a magnificent separately struck rendering of the Lincoln Memorial itself. This special inset can actually be lifted to stand on the base of the commemorative, creating a standing sculpture of the Memorial.
The reverse features a close-up of the Lincoln statue as he sits within the Memorial. The entire base is clad in 14 mg of pure 24 KT Gold. The sculpture of the Lincoln Memorial itself is magnificently engraved and clad in 14 mg of .999 Pure Silver. Best of all, when the Lincoln Memorial itself is lifted to stand on the base, some of the immortal words of the Gettysburg Address are revealed beneath it. The effect is dazzling! Act now to get this very special anniversary piece for your collection.
